The flames were not merely yellow,
Crimson, or even shiny gold.
Blue they lived,
Before my astonished eyes.
Eternal sky blue burning
With more being,
More life presence,
Than even I.

Enchanted sat my empty form;
Feeding log after log
Into the beauty.
Feeling its warmth,
I had only come
There to escape
The dark and cold.

Not having expected
Such rapture,
How could I then
Allow that sweet respite
To leave me again.
I must have been.

With no more logs
And no willingness
To again separate
From beauty,
I did what only
Men maddened by love
I threw myself
Into the fire.
